Developing World HIV/AIDS

Collaborative partnerships and innovation are the hallmark of Tibotec's social and scientific commitment to discovering new solutions to HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases in the developing world.

ARV Global Access Progam
Tibotec has developed a Global Access Program to facilitate access to its antiretrovirals (ARVs) for patients living with HIV/AIDS in developing countries. The Global Access Program includes access pricing, registration, medical education for appropriate use and voluntary licensing. Read more
TB Alliance Collaboration
In 2009, Tibotec announced a landmark collaboration with the Global Alliance for TB Drug Development (TB Alliance) to accelerate the discovery and development of new drugs to fight tuberculosis (TB). By sharing expertise and resources in the development of TMC207, the collaboration could potentially lead to the availability of the first TB drug with a new mechanism of action in 40 years. TMC120 Microbicide Collaboration
In March 2004, Tibotec granted a royalty-free license for its antiretroviral TMC120 to the International Partnership for Microbicides (IPM) to develop, manufacture and distribute the compound as a microbicide in resource-poor countries. This agreement marked the first collaboration in the microbicide field. Read more

Sikiliza Leo, which means 'Listening to tomorrow', is a Non-Government Organization (NGO) whose goal is to contribute towards the development of the capacities of Rural Communities to protect and improve their own health. Read more

Reach Initiative
This initiative focused on supporting collaborative projects between organizations in the developed and developing world by providing financial support for HIV/AIDS research projects in resource-poor countries. Read more


Global Health Science MSC Sponsorship
Tibotec and Johnson & Johnson are sponsoring six students from developing countries for the 2009/ 2010 Global Health MSc course at Oxford University. Read more
